HK pushes for stronger trade relations with Vietnam
Vietnam is the city’s seventh-largest trading partner.
Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Algernon Yau has put forward business opportunities in Hong Kong to Vietnam.
During his visit, Yau requested to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), of which Vietnam is a member.
According to Yau, Hong Kong’s inclusion in the RCEP will further deepen the bilateral relations between the city and Vietnam, bringing more business and investment opportunities to both places.
Yau also encouraged Vietnam's businesses to use Hong Kong's excellent services and platform to expand in the region, in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Mainland and beyond.
The secretary also explored collaboration opportunities with Vietnam's Minister of Planning & Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and Minister of Science & Technology Huynh Thanh Dat.
Vietnam is Hong Kong’s seventh-largest trading partner. From 2017 to 2021, their bilateral trade has grown significantly at an average annual growth rate of 11.8%.
