Household water usage to be ascertained
The Water Supplies Department is currently interviewing 1,000 households for the Domestic Water Consumption Study to ascertain how water is being consumed in Hong Kong households.
Interviewers are visiting households twice. The first visit involves a 20-minute face-to-face interview along with water meter readings, measurements of bathtubs and the flow rates of taps and showerheads, and gathering of information on water-using items like washing machines.
All household members must record their water usage for one week in a logbook.
The next visit will be for collection of the log as well as another water meter reading.
The study will finish at the end of the year and the findings will be announced in the first quarter of next year.
