Baker & McKenzie appoints new managing partner for Hong Kong office

Baker & McKenzie announced today that Paul Tan has been appointed the new Managing Partner of the Firm’s Hong Kong, China and Vietnam offices. Paul will succeed Poh Lee Tan, who held the position since November 2010.

Paul has held a number of significant Firm management roles, including being the Managing Partner of the Hong Kong, China and Vietnam offices in 1997/1998. Paul has also been Vice President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, Chairman and members of various government-appointed Appeal Boards and Advisory Committees.

Paul joined the Firm’s Sydney office in 1982 as an associate, before relocating to join the Hong Kong office in 1985 and became an equity partner in 1991. Paul has a breadth of experience representing multinational clients seeking to invest in Asia as well as on complex cross-border multijurisdictional transactions. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, employment law and other related corporate and commercial law matters in the Asia Pacific region. Paul has been consistently named a leading lawyer in Hong Kong by various legal and industry directories, including Chambers Asia and PLC Which Lawyer?.

Paul graduated from the University of Sydney with a B.Ec., LL.B (Hons) and LL.M. He is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, England and Wales and New South Wales. Paul is also a qualified accountant, a Fellow and Associate Member of the CPA Australia and the Hong Kong Institute of CPA.
