Government mulls over speeding up Tung Chung New Town extension
The extension may yield 40,000-50,000 home units.
According to Nomura, given the growing opposition to the development plan for Northeast New Territories, the government is fast-tracking its study for the extension of Tung Chung New Town.
This extension can potentially house 120,000 residents and provide 40,000 to 50,000 residential units. After the Stage-1 public consultation was completed in mid-August, the government plans to release the preliminary blueprint of the project by this year-end and start Stage-2 public consultation thereafter.
With planning expected to be complete by 2014, the new units may be put out to the market as early as 2020.
