Hong Kong government to adopt supply-led strategy

Housing issues must be addressed ASAP.

In a report, Secretary for Housing Prof Anthony Cheung says the Government can take a more pro-active role in housing supply, and adopt a supply-led strategy.

Briefing the media after chairing the Long Term Housing Strategy Steering Committee meeting last 11 January, Prof Cheung said the group will submit its report to the Government in mid-February.

He said the committee recognises the urgency for the Government to handle the housing problem, and agrees that the community supports the building of Home Ownership Scheme flats.

On the sub-divided unit issue, Prof Cheung said there are diverse views on licensing and landlord registration, and these will be reflected in the report.
