Housing Authority gives go signal for rehousing arrangement

510 households will benefit.

According to a release, the Housing Authority approved rehousing arrangements for 510 households affected by the clearance of Long Bin Interim Housing Estate in Yuen Long.

The authority will clear the estate to make space for a public housing development. The target clearance date is January 2016.

Affected households will be offered public rental housing flats through their existing waiting list applications, or be rehoused. Households who fail to meet the means test must move out.

All eligible households will be granted a removal allowance, ranging from $4,209 to $16,169 depending on household size. One-person and two-person eligible households can also opt to receive an allowance of $40,560 and $50,230 in lieu of rehousing.

The authority will work with voluntary agencies to provide support and social services to households needing help with their move.
