Property sales drop 31% in July

The Land Registry recorded 5,461 sale and purchase agreements for all building units in July, down 30.9% on June but up 2% compared to a year ago.
The total consideration for sale and purchase agreements in July was $45.8 billion, down 38.1% on June but up 26.7% year-on-year.
Among the sale and purchase agreements, 3,515 were for residential units, down 42.1% on the previous month but up 11.7% year-on-year.
The total consideration for residential units was $33.2 billion, down 43.8% compared with June but up 11.7% year-on-year.
The public made 434,555 land register searches during the month.
