Rents for 3 new public flats to be completed between March and June
They will be for less that $2,000 monthly.
Rents have been set for three new public rental housing estates to be completed between March and June next year, the Housing Authority announced.
Rents for the 5,536 flats in eight non-standard blocks will be set at the current best rent level of their respective districts.
The best monthly rent for the 990 flats in Mei Tung Estate in Kowloon will be $64.4 per square metre. For the 1,507 flats in Kwai Luen Estate in Kwai Chung and the 3,039 flats in Shui Chuen O Estate in Sha Tin, the best rent is set at $62.2 per sq m.
Under the rent-fixing exercise, over 85% of the flats rent for less than $2,000 per month. Rents are heavily subsidised, and are inclusive of rates, management fees and maintenance costs.
Those who cannot afford rent for new flats can request lower-rent refurbished flats, or may apply to the rent assistance scheme.
