E-voucher registration closes on 14 August
The scheme grants $5,000 worth of vouchers for use in retail, F&B establishments, and transport amongst others.
The government reminded eligible residents to register for the $5,000 e-consumption voucher, which is set to end on 14 August.
The government reported on 1 August that it has so far disbursed the first voucher, worth $2,000, to about 5.5 million individuals. This covered residents who have completed their registration by 17 July.
Those who have submitted paper registration forms or those who have completed their electronic registration on or after 18 July are expected to receive their first voucher on 1 September.
Meanwhile, those who opt to upload their Hong Kong identity card (HKID card) copy for authentication in respect of their electronic registration should upload their HKID card copy via the Scheme website have until 16 August to complete the registration procedure.
Otherwise, the electronic registration submitted will be regarded as incomplete and will not be processed.
Moreover, since the deadline for registration under the Scheme falls on a Saturday, 14 August, when banks and post offices are closed in the afternoon, eligible people who plan to submit paper registration forms should do so on or before the morning of the said day.
The scheme will grant a $5,000 voucher to residents for consumption at physical and online stores in the retail, food and beverage, and service sectors. It is expected to stimulate economic growth.
