China Mobile Hong Kong wins 3.5GHz spectrum for $300m
The company will build a territory wide 5G network.
China Mobile Hong Kong won the bid for 60MHz bandwidth 3.5GHz bands at $300m on Monday, the company announced.
The 3.5GHz spectrum will provide 5G network across Hong Kong, in line with the country’s goal to be a smart city.
Since the company’s first installment of 3.5GHz 5G commercial cell sites in their Mongkok flagship store, it has conducted a series of testings, successfully making the first 5G local and international call in May of this year.
The spectrum will run from 1 April 2020 and will be valid for 15 years.
