Hong Kong Internet speed grabs crown as world’s fastest

Three times higher than world average.

Hong Kong ranks first in the Net Index among 184 countries and territories analyzed by Ookla (www.ookla.com), a US-based company that is a global leader in broadband testing and web-based network diagnostic applications.

Lithuania was second with 38.85 Mbps, followed by Taiwan (36.66 Mbps), The Netherlands (34.53 Mbps) and Luxembourg (34.06 Mbps).

The world average is 13.82 Mbps; the EU average is 18.62 Mbps; the G8 average is 17.72 Mbps and the OECD average is 17.18 Mbps. The data is based on user tests over the Speedtest.net website since December 2010.
