HTHK, Huawei ink MOU on 5.5G green strategy
The parties aim to reduce 400,000kg of CO2 emission yearly.
Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong (HTHK) and Huawei signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on a 5.5G green strategy collaboration, adopting an AI energy-saving solution to achieve a "zero bit, zero watt" energy-saving goal.
Under the MOU, both parties will drive the sustainable development of the telecoms industry by promoting green mobile network development and exploring innovative 5.5G applications in Hong Kong.
HTHK will deploy the AI energy-saving solution at base stations across different areas in phases starting 1Q24.
The solution will switch the network to a smart energy-saving mode during low-traffic periods.
Upon full deployment of the solution, the parties can reduce approximately 400,000kg of carbon emissions yearly.
HTHK is trilliang the energy-saving solution in New Territories East.
For high-traffic areas, HTHK will deploy Huawei’s MetaAAU energy-saving antenna to minimise power consumption.
