Committee formed to monitor taxi service quality
It will monitor the service quality of about 18,000 taxis in Hong Kong.
The government announced the establishment of the Committee on Taxi Service Quality which will serve as a platform to discuss measures to enhance the service quality of about 18,000 taxis last January 9, according to a press release.
The committee is chaired by Commissioner for Transport Mable Chan and will advise the government on a series of initiatives including how to update service standards and guidelines for taxi drivers, review sanctions for taxi malpractices, enhance customer service training courses and introduce technological advancements to improve overall service quality.
The committee is comprised of non-official members from various sectors, including the taxi trade, the Legislative Council, District Councils, academia, the Consumer Council, the Tourism Board and groups representing the disabled.
