New taxi and public light bus ID plates rolled out
They’re valid for ten years.
The transport department unveiled new taxi and public light bus driver identity plates that are valid for a ten year period.
Identity plates were previously valid for one year but has since been extended due to growing clamour from taxi and minibus trades.
New specifications for driver identity plates also came into effect. Driver identity plates issued before October 6 will still be valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
All taxi and minibus drivers who fail to display their identity plates will be subject to a $2,000 fine.
