DHL invest $4.77b in new Central Asia Hub launch in Hong Kong
The expansion has increased total warehouse space by 50% to 49,500 sqm.
DHL Express launched the newly expanded Central Asia Hub (CAH) in Hong Kong.
The total investment for this expansion is €562m (approx. $4.77b). This supports DHL’s aim to develop Hong Kong as an international aviation hub.
The CAH has increased the total warehouse space by 50% to 49,500 sqm and the hub’s handling capacity by 70% to 125,000 shipments per hour.
It supports about 690 daily flights and handles about 20% of DHL’s global shipment volume.
The CAH is located within a 4-hour flight time to major cities in APAC and the Pan-Pearl River Delta region.
To promote sustainability, CAH has installed 3,450 solar panels on the roof, with total Photovoltaic (PV) generation estimated at 1.68 GWh.
This is equivalent to reducing 850 tons of carbon emissions per annum.
"We are confident that the expanded CAH will foster interconnectivity and underpin Asia's status as a powerhouse of global growth," Ken Lee, CEO for Asia Pacific, DHL Express said.
