Gov't to roll out $769m relief for the public transport sector

The relief measures include fuel subsidy and reimbursement for losses.

The Transport Department said it will spend $769m for another round of relief measures for the public transport sector.

The relief measures include three months of fuel subsidy to five franchised bus companies, 11 franchised and licensed ferry operators, Hong Kong Tramways, taxis and public light buses.

Eligible public transport operators who record a loss this year can also get a reimbursement from the government for their actual regular repair and maintenance costs from July to December.

The latest relief measures are under the sixth round of the Anti-epidemic Fund.
