Hong Kong awaits formal deal on high-speed rail link to Guangzhou

It has trained 40 drivers and conductors.

The South China Morning Post reported that preparations are quietly under way by Hong Kong’s rail operator to run the high-speed rail link to Guangzhou – even though the government has yet to confirm the MTR Corporation’s role in the mega project.

More than 40 drivers and conductors have completed training, with another 30 set to follow suit, an MTR spokeswoman said as the operator prepared to take over the management of the express rail link to Guangzhou.
