Port cargo volume decreases by 18.4% YoY in Q2
Inward and outward cargo saw decreases of 28.1 % and 4.8% YoY, respectively.
In a report released by the Census and Statistics Department, total port cargo throughput faced a decrease of 18.4% year-on-year (YoY).
A total of 55 million tonnes was recorded for the period. Included in this segment are seaborne and river cargo at 38.3 million and 16.7 million tonnes, respectively.
Inward port cargo totalled 34.3 million tonnes and decreased by 28.1% YoY. Outward port cargo, meanwhile, increased by 0.1% YoY and amounted to 38 million tonnes.
Vietnam, Indonesia, and Japan led the countries with the most inward port cargo loaded at 29.3%, 27.7%, and 14.2%, respectively.
Decreases were recorded in Taiwan, China, Korea, and Singapore, with -68.6%, -40.0%, -39.7%, and -34%.
Outward port cargo, meanwhile, had Macao, Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Taiwan as leaders, with 40.9%, 36.3%, 24.2%, 15%, 13.3%, and 12.9% respectively. A decrease, however, was seen in China with -15.6%.
