Chinachem and SCC to develop smart city and cyber security standards

Under the new arrangement, both parties will foster the development of IoT PropTech for sustainable living.

Chinachem Group and Smart City Consortium (SCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to spur smart city development and elevate cybersecurity standards in Hong Kong. A press release has confirmed the signing, which will ensure that the two will work together to use digital transformation in providing sustainable living solutions for the people.

Following the MoU, the SCC will develop a set of indexing standards, cybersecurity guidelines and best practices for deploying and maintaining IoT devices in smart buildings. Chinachem will offer monetary sponsorship and test the resulting IoT PropTech standards to fortify cybersecurity in its smart buildings. They will also organise activities to promote Hong Kong’s smart city vision.

Donald Choi, executive director and group CEO of Chinachem has explained that the intention of this MoU is to raise the bar for the group and the industry. “It is also our vision to position the city as a leader within the Greater Bay Area in terms of IoT standards development, assessment and education for the property sector," he added.
