Convictions for environmental breaches reach 25 in August
Twenty-five convictions were recorded in August for breaches of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Six of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, two under the Noise Control Ordinance, one under the Ozone Layer Protection Ordinance, and 16 under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in August was $35,000, assessed against a company that imported controlled waste without a permit.
