
Government protects workers from excessively low wages
The Labour Department will offer aid to grassroots workers who are having problems after the launch of the statutory minimum wage.
The statutory minimum wage is to protect grassroots workers from excessively low wages.
According to Hong Kong Information Services Department, Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung said that workers who are having problems after the launch of the statutory minimum wage can go to the Labour Department for assistance.
It will take time for both employers and employees to adjust to the new policy, said Mr Cheung.
