APEC 2014 meeting to be held in Hong Kong
China to assume Chairmanship next year.
According to a report, the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting 2014 will be held in Hong Kong, hosted by the Ministry of Finance.
Finance ministers, as well as senior central bank officials of APEC member economies, will gather in Hong Kong for the ministerial meeting in September of next year.
Chief Executive CY Leung welcomed the announcement, saying the Government is grateful for the support and trust of the Central Government in deciding to hold this important meeting in Hong Kong, highlighting the city's role as an international financial centre.
“The HKSAR Government attaches great importance to the contribution of Hong Kong's role as an international financial centre to the economic development of Hong Kong and the further reform and opening-up of our country. I am confident that Hong Kong will successfully host the APEC FMM 2014," he said.
China will assume Chairmanship of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation for next year, and Financial Secretary John Tsang said the Hong Kong Government is honoured the Central Government has decided to hold the meeting in Hong Kong.
"The APEC FMM will serve as a valuable opportunity to promote the latest development of our financial sector and our economic co-operation with APEC member economies, thereby reinforcing and enhancing Hong Kong's role as an international financial centre," he said.
China, as the host economy of APEC 2014, will be responsible for chairing meetings including the annual Economic Leaders' meeting.
