Exchange Fund's foreign assets dropped to $2.51t

Foreign liabilities stood at $300m.

In a report, the Monetary Authority announced that the Exchange Fund's foreign assets decreased by $18.9 billion to $2.5133 trillion in June.

The Monetary Base, comprising Certificates of Indebtedness, government issued currency notes and coins in circulation, the Aggregate Balance and Exchange Fund Bills and Notes issued, amounted to $1.2376 trillion.

Claims on the private sector in Hong Kong amounted to $159.1 billion.

Foreign liabilities, representing fees payable to the Exchange Fund's external managers, amounted to $300 million.
