StanChart’s HK workforce operates in split teams anew

The new arrangement came after the implementation of stricter measures in HK.

Staff members of Standard Chartered Plc in Hong Kong has started working in split teams after the Asian financial hub imposed stricter measures anew due to rising COVID-19 cases.

Reuters, in its report, said the London-headquartered bank issued a memo to staff ordering the resumption of a “hard-split A/B team arrangement” for its critical teams.

The split-team system started this week.

In the same memo, bank employees were called on to refrain from attending “large-scale organised events and unnecessary social gatherings.”

According to Bloomberg, the bank has about 6,000 employees in Hong Kong.

On Wednesday, Chief Executive Carrie Lam warned that Hong Kong is “on the verge” of the fifth wave of COVID.
