HKMA appoints Donald Chen as new executive director
This will take effect on 1 November this year.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has appointed Donald Chen as its new Executive Director (Corporate Services), effective 1 November.
He will take the place of Linda So, who has resigned from HKMA for personal effect. Her resignation will take effect on the same day.
As the Executive Director (Corporate Services), Chen will manage corporate development, media relations and public engagement, and human resources.
He will also be in charge of administration, finance, information technology, and digitalisation work under the HKMA.
Chen served as an Administrative Officer from 1994 to 2019, focused on policy formulation and public administration.
He then sat as the deputy head of the Policy Innovation and Co-ordination Office for the government before joining the HKMA in 2020 as its Senior Advisor in the External Department.
He has been involved in market outreach and Mainland-related market development work.
His appointment was approved by Financial Secretary Paul Chan at the advice of the Governance Sub-Committee of the Exchange and Advisory Committee.
HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to So for her contributions to the authority.
