Why positive recruitment experience matters
Four in 10 would decline a good offer due to unprofessional selection process.
Over half of the job seekers (52%) in Hong Kong have turned down an attractive offer due to negative recruitment experience, SEEK has found.
Jobseekers will particularly turn down an offer if they got asked discriminatory questions or have poor chemistry with the interviewers during the selection process.
Four in 10 (41%) said they would decline a good offer if the selection process is too slow or unorganised.
SEEK also found that despite 68% of talent in Hong Kong being approached with job opportunities multiple times a year, only 6% feel that they have all the power when negotiating with employers.
The study also found that even those offered IT roles, which are amongst the most sought-after job functions, do not feel confident in negotiations, with only 3% saying they feel completely in control.
Another aspect of the recruitment process where companies should focus is job ads.
According to SEEK, 33% of job seekers prefer job ads with a salary range, whilst 27% prioritise job postings with a detailed description of job duties.
