Check out this ASEAN internship for university students
It'll be launched next summer.
According to a report, Secretary for Education Eddie Ng began his official visit to Singapore last July 29 with the announcement of the ASEAN Internship for University Students of Hong Kong Scheme, which will launch next summer.
The Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Singapore initiated the scheme. Twenty organisations in ASEAN member countries have confirmed participation, and 20 more are considering joining.
Leading a Hong Kong delegation, Mr Ng spoke to a group of Hong Kong university students undertaking internships in Singapore.
He said being a cosmopolitan city in Asia, Hong Kong needs to strengthen its connections with different countries and places in the region and foster a new generation with broadened horizons and international perspectives.
"The new scheme can enhance the bilateral relationship between ASEAN member countries and Hong Kong. It will also provide students with invaluable experiences relating to workplaces as well as the economic and socio-cultural environments in the countries."
Mr Ng met with Minister for Education Heng Swee Keat and Ministry of Education Director-General of Education Ho Peng.
The delegates visited Soka Kindergarten to look into the provision of kindergarten education in Singapore. They also visited the Temasek Polytechnic and met the Academy of Principals (Singapore).
