Discussions on working hour policy to progress
As working hour body meets for the first time.
The Standard Working Hours Committee held its first meeting today, and discussed the body's future work direction.
Members agreed to conduct wide consultation on working hours and to consider further statistical surveys for members’ reference to discuss the way forward.
Committee Chairman Dr CH Leong said after the meeting that members will follow up on the Government’s policy study on standard working hours and promote understanding of the complex subject.
It will advise the Chief Executive on Hong Kong's working hour situation, including whether a statutory working hour regime or any other alternatives should be introduced.
The committee will provide a platform for various sectors to give their views on working hour policy, which involves complicated work culture and legal issues affecting a wide spectrum of employees, and where the different concerns of employers and workers in various trades can be addressed.
