Government launches bilingual teaching kit
It will boost understanding of the land registration system.
According to a release, the Land Registry has launched bilingual teaching kit "Decoding Land Registration" for the Liberal Studies subject in the New Senior Secondary curriculum.
The kit features the history of land registration, its significance in the political, economic, social and cultural development of Hong Kong, and the Land Registry's role, to help broaden students' horizons and perspectives.
The kit has two booklets and a CD-ROM that provide teaching material for six lessons, including tailor-made class activities and supplementary reading and reference materials. The kit has been delivered to all secondary schools that offer Liberal Studies classes.
Land Registrar Mary Chow said the kit was designed to enhance students' understanding of the current land registration system and the proposed title registration system that seeks to enhance title certainty and simplify conveyancing procedures.
The Land Registry also plans to set up an online resource centre later this year to provide students with a one-stop information platform for conducting independent study and to help teachers conduct research and collect information for preparing classroom discussions and activities on the subject.
