Hong Kong's first power engineering, environment-themed playground opens

The new attraction is meant to stimulate student’s interest in engineering.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited has started operations of its CLP E-Playground, featuring attractions meant to educate visitors on power generation, transmission and supply.

Its features include Energy Vision Tree that incorporates the concept of solar and wind power, and the Ping Pong 360 table tennis game that replicates a natural gas pipeline.

The playground is located at The Hong Kong Award for Young People (HKAYP) Duke Ediburgh Training Camp in Lam Chuen, Tai Po.

“From CLP E-Playground, students could acquire knowledge on environmental protection and energy through play as well as develop a low carbon lifestyle at a young age. This is in line with Hong Kong’s roadmap to strive to achieve carbon neutrality,” Secretary for the Environment Wong Kam-sing said.

The CLP Power partnered with HKAYP in 2019 to design the CLP E-Playground. It will also be a part of CLP Power’s education programme for secondary school students.

Under the programme, workshops will be offered to students, in which they will be taugh to use robots and drones
