Hongkongers now using social media to find new jobs
But recruitment consultants still the top channel.
While recruitment consultants continue to be the top channel for a job search among Hongkongers, previously non-traditional channels such as social media are now featuring highly as preferred methods.
According to Michael Page's 2014/15 Michael Page Hong Kong Employee Intentions Report, among survey respondents, jobseekers in Hong Kong also indicate a continuing change in their habits when it comes to job searches.
Previously non-traditional channels such as job boards (29%) and social media platforms (28%) feature highly as preferred methods for finding a new role, only coming just behind the mainstay recruitment companies (34%).

The reliance on digital platforms such as job boards and social media platforms indicates a shift in mindsets and approaches, it is evident that recruitment consultants remain an extremely important channel.
Preferred job board: The most preferred job board used by jobseekers is Jobsdb.com according to 67% of the survey respondents.
Preferred social media platform: LinkedIn was the most preferred social media platform when embarking on a job search for 59% of the survey respondents.
Where their interview was attended: Of the respondents indicating that they attended interviews over the last 12 months, majority of them attended interviews with another company
(66%) while 20% of these respondents attended interviews within their own company as well as externally.
