
4 in 5 professionals expect pay hikes in 2018
Workers generally hope for a modest 2-3% increase in pay.
Four in 5 business professionals expect an increase in salary next year, according to Hong Kong economic sentiment survey released by CPA Australia.
Three in 10 (30%) expect their salary to rise by a modest 2.5-3.5% range whilst two in 20 (21%) expect a smaller increase by less than 2.5%.
Only 1 in 10 (10%) expect their salary to increase widely by 6.5% or more whilst on the other end of the spectrum, 17% expect salary levels to remain more or less the same.
In the same survey, CPA Australia revealed that 4 in 10 (47%) think that hiring levels in Hong Kong will hold this year as most professionals expect company headcount to remain the same.
The survey was conducted with finance and business professionals as respondents.
