IT workers can expect 20% pay hike in 2018

Their projected salary increase is well above the national wage growth.

IT professionals have a reason to celebrate next year as they are projected to enjoy an average of 20% salary increase over the next 12 months, according to a press release from Robert Half.

Amidst a severe market shortage of skilled IT professionals, Robert Half noted that the impending pay hike for IT workers is exponentially higher than the national wage growth of 3.8% across industries.

“Salary acts as a primary motivator for working professionals and the city’s IT workers are acutely aware of their market value – hence the risk for employers to see their top performing employees leave the organisation if they are offered a more attractive salary package elsewhere,” said Robert Half Hong Kong Managing Director Adam Johnston.

Johnston added that employers should offer competitive remuneration packages and diversify incentives to retain IT talent as companies across industries increasingly adopt IT-focused agendas to achieve their respective business goals.
