Majority of full-time workers received pay hike: study

The remaining workers had unchanged pay or reduced salary.

More than half or 53% of full-time employees in Hong Kong revealed that their salary went up whilst 41% had unchanged pay and 6% said they experienced salary cuts, a Job Seeker Salary Report 2022 bared.

According to the report by SEEK’s employment marketplace, the market posted increases in salary hike, with an average of 3.2% in 2022 compared to 0.4% in 2021. This marks a three-record high and a return to pre-pandemic levels.

Amongst the industries with greatest pay hikes are analytics with 7.3%, digital marketing, e-commerce, and social media with 6.4%, and public relations and corporate affairs with 6.1%.

Conversely, sectors hardest-hit by the global health crisis faced negative average salary growths, namely, retail sales with -4.8% and food & beverage with -1.1%.

Over 3,632 local employees were polled between March and April 2022 to determine salary reports in firms.
