
Over 3,000 students to receive up to $72,800 in educational subsidies
It's part of the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors.
The government is planning to provide subsidies to over 3,000 undergraduate students in the 2019-2020 academic year under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP).

Annual subsidy amount for laboratory-based and non-laboratory-based programmes are at $72,800 and $41,700 respectively.
The scheme aims to nurture talent to support industries in need of manpower and provide targeted financial support in select disciplines that meet the SAR’s social and economic needs, according to a government statement.
There are 38 programmes under the SSSDP covering 10 disciplines including architecture and engineering, creative industries, financial technology, healthcare, sports and recreation, and tourism and hospitality.
Subsidised allocation will mainly go through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System to ensure students are selected on merit.
The six participating post-secondary institutions include Caritas Institute of Higher Education, Chu Hai College of Higher Education, Hang Seng Management College, The Open University of Hong Kong, Tung Wah College and Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, Vocational Training Council.
