
Three out of five jobseekers hunt through mobile phones
Job applications should also be mobile friendly.
Job seekers in Hong Kong turn to mobile phone to look for jobs but only 23% apply using the same method. Other job candidates still prefer conventional job application, a study by recruitment agency Hays revealed.
“The employment market in Hong Kong is changing fast so candidates need to be more mobile responsive to make the most of opportunities when they hit the market,” Hays managing director for Hong Kong and South China Dean Stallard said.
The study found the contracting and temping sectors in Hong Kong to be gain traction as companies move to curb rising costs.

“Being nimble when it comes to responding to these new opportunities is essential and that means knowing how to use your mobile throughout the recruitment process including creating and sending a quality application to a prospective employer,” Stallard noted.

“Receiving job alerts on your mobile is an easy way to get the jump on your competition. However, you also need to be able to respond quickly when you spot the right job and that means having an up-to-date resume handy to attach and send via a mobile with an application,” he said.
Job hunters (69%) in Japan were the most likely to use their mobile to find jobs followed by 65% in Malaysia, 59% in the Mainland, and 58% in Singapore.
