Hong Kong's total port cargo up 26.8%
Total cargo for the past quarter reached 71m tonnes.
Total port cargo throughput increased 26.8% year-on-year to 71 million tonnes in the fourth quarter last year, the Census & Statistics Department revealed. Within this total, inward port cargo increased 26.3% to 42.2 million tonnes, while outward port cargo rose 27.5% to 28.7 million tonnes.
For 2016, total port cargo throughput increased 0.1% year-on-year to 256.7 million tonnes. Within this total, inward port cargo decreased 1.3% to 150.8 million tonnes, while outward port cargo increased 2.1% to 106 million tonnes.
